The 8BitDo SN30 Pro is a wireless controller styled after the original SNES pad. Its D-pad is the main draw: reviewers praise it for 2D platformers and retro games, and it’s a cheap alternative to Nintendo’s Pro Controller. It works with Nintendo Switch, PC, Android, Mac and Steam Deck.
The battery is built in and can’t be replaced, and one review found no button remapping. PCWorld also noted thumbstick placement can get in the way in some emulated games. Most reviews date from its 2017 and 2018 launch, and several editions are sold, including a Hall-effect version, so check which one the listing is.
